I just checked on Gardenfork’s iTunes page, and noticed some new viewer reviews, which are always fun to read. Haven’t gotten any angry comments yet. I can’t really put it into words, but people watch an episode of Gardenfork and there is this ‘connect’ that happens to a lot of those who watch.
Here are a [...]

OK, its the day before Thanksgiving, I just walked Henry, and I have to get down to the community garden to do my compost work shift for the Park Slope Food Coop before cleaning the apartment, editing a new episode of Gardenfork, and getting ready to drive upstate.
But then, Chris Brogan sends me this cryptic [...]

The Greenhouse has launched
November 15th, 2007 · No Comments
I’ll elaborate on this later, but I’ve launched a community site for viewers of Gardenfork & Real World Green called The Greenhouse.
Its another one of my experiments in social networking and media. I get many emails from viewers, and I thought it be neat to create a destination where viewers could share with each other, [...]

A good bag of tools
September 4th, 2007 · No Comments
Chris Brogan has posted a good list of social media tools on his blog. I thought a few were worth commenting on here.
Upcoming is a good site to list your events, AND to find out about events you should be attending. Many times I find out about some cool event after the fact. Today on [...]

Update on the Colebrook Neighbors website
September 4th, 2007 · No Comments
I was at the Colebrook Fair this weekend, and several people sought me out to discuss the recent promotion of the ColebrookNeighbors.com website, powered by ConnectingNeighbors.
People who disagreed with me were probably not going to approach me, but from the comments made by people, the local realtor did not foster any goodwill by creating this [...]

If you want to grow a relationship with people in a town, it would help to start with a little research.
Here is an email I just sent out to everyone who subscribes to the Colebrook News, the email newsletter and community website I help run for the town of Colebrook, CT. I’ve put in additional [...]

KickApps allows you to add UGC to your own site
August 23rd, 2007 · No Comments
I saw Michael Chin demonstrate KickApps suite of widgets that allows a website to have its own version of YouTube, one more way to build community around a site.
Using KickApps you can create a “video -enabled community with cool, customizable widgets” which looks pretty neat. I can see using this on Gardenfork for viewer submitted [...]

Finally, i’m on Facebook
August 14th, 2007 · 1 Comment
45 days after Chris Brogan invites me to join Facebook, I finally create my profile there. My initial response is along the lines of what was said on On Digital Media, its more ‘now’ than LinkedIn, which seems more like a static snapshot in time.
Fairly easy to set up, all you have to do is [...]

Corn Roast Networking
August 7th, 2007 · No Comments
At the Church Corn Roast, I ran into many people, one of them, Frank, runs the church website. We talked about the community blog, and how few people comment on it.
I still think, in a small town like this, in person communication is preferred. Email is not the first means of getting someone’s attention. People [...]
