Roberto Falck  sends out an Image of the Month to people who have signed up on his blog to receive it.  A single picture with a few lines of text. This works really well to keep in touch with previous and future customers, it keeps his name in their heads monthly, and I bet he gets a fair number of referrals from this.

Its simple, its not overdone, and it works really well.  Email is the simplest way to touch base with people.
