Blog drives book sales

I was asked this weekend to speak at a town event about blogging, what it is, how people can use it. In addition to blogging being a personal soapbox, it can also help small businesses.

gardencar

I ran across this blog just now, The Whizbang Garden Cart Blog, whose sole purpose is to show you this DIY gardencart and drive sales of the book of plans to build it.

Herrick Kimball is quite industrious, and puts the blog to good use. You can feel his excitement and energy in the postings about his cart and writing the book.

Reading his blog, I immediately want to buy the book, as this is an excellent project for gardenfork. I started to look for a link to buy the book, thinking it was a downloadable e-book, but its not. The book is at the printer, and you can send a PayPal payment or mail Herrick the payment.

Again, a good use of a blog for a small biz, the next step here, I think, is offering the e-book as well as a printed edition.
