I write about e-books, David Pogue writes about e-books.

David Pogue writes in the NY Times about Sony’s new portable e-book reader the day after I write aobut them:

E-books may have flopped the first time around, but you can’t deny that they offer some intriguing advantages. You can add dozens of them to your luggage without adding any more weight or bulk. You can adjust the type size. You can search the whole book in seconds, or insert an infinite number of bookmarks. No trees are destroyed to make e-books. And you can read during lunch without having to prop open your novel with a dangerously full can of soda.

If you’re sold on the idea, then you’ll find a lot to like in the Sony Reader — and a few things to dislike.

I’ll have to go check this out, I’ve enjoyed a few books on the laptop, but not with a stand alone reader. I think a big drawback to this reader is the screen is not backlit, a big plus is the crispness of the type and low batter usage.

Also in the works is a reader from Amazon, being discussed in 201 blogs, according to Technorati.

Pogue also mentions that you can access many copyright free books at gutenberg.org, you can even get books there in Esperanto.
