Because I am a subscriber to home delivery of the NY Times, I get access to the Times Select portion of their website, which allows a user to search thru their archive of articles. I find this very handy, as then I don’t have to save all these newspaper clippings, I can save them in my Times File.
This weekend while searching for an article, after clicking on the headline of the one I wanted, I am presented with a page asking me to supply my billing information.
No reason is given why I’m being asked, its just there.
The page almost looks like a forgery, and I’m thinking maybe someone has managed to hack into the Times site, thus I don’t provide my credit card information.
Today I got in the mail a letter from the NY Times asking me to update my credit card info, as my current card is set to expire next month. This may explain the web page I encountered.
Yet I find it odd, that a paper that has such a great web site, would have this klunky looking page asking for billing information, and giving no reason to the viewer the reason why.
