Bluetooth Headset acquired

August 15th, 2006 · No Comments

The last few weeks have left me without a laptop, but now its back. Always back up your data..

I was on 6th Ave and 23rd street and walked into a Radio Shack like no other i’ve seen. The whole store had been redone to feature just cell phones, ipods, and the like. Gone were the racks of DB15 plug adapters.

I told the sales woman I was intersted in bluetooth headset, and she liked the Motorola. I bought one in white, so it didn’t look too Star Trek-like.

The Motorola H500 features one button and 2 volume buttons. It was real simple to connect to my Palm Treo. I’m still getting used to answering calls from the headset. Its almost easier to press the answer key on the phone, but if its not nearby, (its good up to 30 ft away) you press the one button to answer.

On the street the quality is not great. Motorola does make a higher priced unit with advanced noise cancelling. In a building or car the sound quality is better. This wont be a unit I wear on my ear while walking the dog.

Its real nice not to have a wire running down your neck to a cell phone. Plus the earpiece is easy to put on and wear, it sits flat on your ear, it doesn’t stick in your ear, like some other units i’ve seen.

What I have noticed is some line noise, which this being NY, does not surprise me, considering the amount of radio wave traffic that goes on.
